Lancaster County, South Carolina is one of the fastest growing counties in South Carolina, and is seeking an Information Technologies Director to direct the Lancaster County IT Department.   The County borders York, Chester and Kershaw Counties, South Carolina, and Mecklenburg and Union Counties, North Carolina. Reporting to the Deputy County Administrator, this position is responsible for overseeing and managing the Information Technology department and ensuring the County’s systems are reliable, up-to-date, and improve operational performance.  To accomplish these goals, the Director must work closely with senior leadership. 




Examples of Duties

The ideal candidate is adept at working in a dynamic environment, training and motivating employees, and has experience working with other county departments and outside agencies and vendors. Public Safety experience is a plus. 



The Director must possess extensive knowledge of budget, infrastructure and applications. This position directs the planning and implementation of enterprise technology systems in support of business operations in order to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development; this position is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s technology, information and data systems.  The Director is expected to develop long-range plans that effectively utilize technology to coordinate the achievement of enterprise goals, initiatives and objectives.  This position will provide strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing technology initiatives, fostering the adoption technology, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future information systems across the organization.  




Typical Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, along with five years of related experience in the field of IT Project Management.  Three to five years’ experience managing personnel and critical vendors highly desired. Result oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong technical leadership with solid people management skills. Excel at working with various functional groups and organizational departments, while handling complex projects from concept to execution in a dynamic environment. Self-motivated individual with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities. Willingness to occasionally work outside of normal business hours.
