Reporting to the Region Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the Area Manager provides economic development assistance to entrepreneurs and coordinates business development opportunities/activities for the assigned area.

Knowledge of the basic principles and theories of small business development. Ability to plan, promote and conduct seminars and workshops; speak to business groups, community groups, and agencies; develop and implement programs to assist small businesses; attend economic development activities; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public, and manage staff and create a team environment. Exceptional organizational and planning skills. Effective interpersonal skills.

Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience or Master’s degree and three years of experience in accounting, business administration, economics, engineering, or related field.
